Blinded outcomes were used in 42% studies, randomization in 10%, and evidence of visceral inflammation in 54%. Only 3 studies fulfilled our criteria for high methodological quality, and no study reported sample size calculations. Conclusions: The included studies provide strong evidence for CNS plasticity following GIT inflammation, specifically in the spinal cord dorsal horn. This evidence includes altered visceromotor responses and indices of referred pain, elevated neural activation and peptide content, and increased neuronal excitability. This evidence supports continued use of this approach for preclinical studies; however, there is substantial scope to improve study design.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:29:12 AEST ]]> The effect of neck muscle inflammation on neuronal excitability in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11242 Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:02:02 AEST ]]> Heteromeric α/β glycine receptors regulate excitability in parvalbumin-expressing dorsal horn neurons through phasic and tonic glycinergic inhibition https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33984 Wed 04 Sep 2019 09:39:10 AEST ]]> Defining a spinal microcircuit that gates myelinated afferent input: implications for tactile allodynia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45038 Thu 27 Oct 2022 13:52:31 AEDT ]]> The search for novel analgesics: re-examining spinal cord circuits with new tools https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:18904 Thu 13 Jun 2024 08:04:55 AEST ]]> Aging alters signaling properties in the mouse spinal dorsal horn https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36538 Fri 29 May 2020 17:22:29 AEST ]]> Age-related gene expression changes in lumbar spinal cord: Implications for neuropathic pain https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41076 Fri 22 Jul 2022 17:04:19 AEST ]]> A Novel, Paresthesia-Free Spinal Cord Stimulation Waveform for Chronic Neuropathic Low Back Pain: Six-Month Results of a Prospective, Single-Arm, Dose-Response Study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:53877 Fri 19 Jan 2024 12:40:51 AEDT ]]> The role of parvalbumin⁺ interneurons in spinal sensory coding https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35747 Fri 15 Nov 2019 11:00:30 AEDT ]]>
